Varsity Game from last year
As the first Palisade High School soccer game commences, there is nothing but excitement in the air. They could not have prepared more. The soccer boys team has more than just new players and teammates this year, a new coach has arrived.
Last year the boy’s record was 4-11. Even though they great wins against rivals like Fruita Monument and Eagle Valley. This year with the new coach, Cody Klaiber they are looking to improve that record. The boys have a strong hope that the new coach will bring in a better season, with more wins. Jayden Ford Senior states,“We had to get a new coach, which was definitely a big change.” Ford later goes on to say that, “I don’t think that it’s affected us too much.” Talan Despain, a Junior here at Palisade High School reflects on the new management,“I feel that he realizes that every player on our team has a purpose and they all have a reason to be there.” The players don’t see a negative effect from the new coach, rather they see a positive impact. Asking Ford before the game. Ford says,“I know we are gonna beat them. We lost to them the last two years. And we kind of had a rivalry between them. So I’m really looking forward to whooping them.”
The Palisade Boy’s Soccer Team took the win on Friday afternoon with a score of 1-0. Wesley Reimer a Sophomore at PHS states,“ I think that our players trained harder this summer, they’ve worked harder and they’ve gotten a lot better.” The soccer team has really made an effort to become better individually no matter if they have a new coach or not. We can see a bright season ahead for our Palisade High School Soccer Team.
