Freshman Annie Smith ready to serve the ball.
On May 8th, three of our Palisade Bulldogs made it to this year’s Tennis State Championship, which included Junior Haley Ammons, Sophomore Kirra Trousdale, and Freshman Annie Smith. As a school we are so proud of these Bulldogs for putting in the effort, hard work and commitment for Wardog Tennis. Trousdale and Smith played Niwot during the state tournament. Trousdale states “Annie and I played very well. I feel like Annie brought our mood up and continued to help me through all mental blocks.” They unfortunately lost against Niwot but that didn’t bring them down. They lost the first set 3-6 and the second set 2-6. Their score doesn’t determine their worth because these two girls have worked to their full potential every minute of the season to make it all the way to State.
Trousdale was injured during the match while trying to go for an overhand shot and took a 10 minute medical break. She persevered through the game and right back up and still played well. Smith stated, “State was probably one of my favorite memories,”. Trousdale added on, “State helped me bond with my teammates and overall have an amazing experience with my team, getting to play with Annie as well as getting to know her while both improving our skills was not only my favorite part about State, but also my favorite part of the whole season.” Seeing the team grow within our program is not only amazing but it brings our girls closer. Congrats on making State Championships and for a great season!
