Junior Regyn Coolbaugh is this week's Student of the Week.
This week’s Female Student of the Week is a fierce Bulldog, enthusiastic IB learner, and a beyond talented thespian. Junior Regyn Coolbaugh embodies perfection, inside and out, validating her title of SOTW.
Palisade French teacher Mr. Wallace nominated Coolbaugh due to her playfulness and undeniable kindness. He states, “Her nice personality sticks out to a lot of people. She goes out of her way to help others without any accolades or recognition.” In times of stress or uncertainty, Coolbaugh supports her classmates, with witty jokes and gentle explanations.
Wallace has had Coolbaugh in his French classes since freshman year. She has dominated each year, demonstrating her skill of language acquisition and overall being a wonderful student. Over the years, Coolbaugh and Wallace have established a humorous relationship. Wallace says, “She can take banter and give it back, which I find fun. There are a lot of moments where she laughs at instances or at me.” To which Coolbaugh comments, “I have a reputation for picking on Wallace a little bit. He’s definitely one of my favorite teachers because he makes me feel welcome in his classroom. He really gives us a venue to act like teenagers in a constructive way.”
When she’s not teasing Mr. Wallace or helping her fellow IB students, Coolbaugh can be found singing and acting with Palisade’s theater department. Coolbaugh shines bright on stage, usually as a lead. “I absolutely love doing theater here at Palisade. It allows me to put forth all my different interests. I do a lot of our set design so I get to combine my creative aspects like painting with my love for singing and acting. It’s just a ton of fun,” exclaims Coolbaugh. Each Palisade production is basically perfect due to Coolbaugh’s immense talent and hard work. “She’s in a lot of plays and musicals. We don’t normally see those people get recognized,” adds Wallace.
Student of the Week is an honorable title at Palisade. Coolbaugh acknowledges this, saying, “It allows me to contribute to the culture of our school in a different way. Realizing that the way I interact with Palisade and individuals does not go unnoticed is really cool.”
Congratulations to Regyn Coolbaugh for winning Student of the Week. You’re an inspiration to every Bulldog!
