Palisade Junior, Lexi Taylor, is the Female Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Taylor is a two sport athlete in volleyball during the fall and golf during the spring. Taylor has been playing golf for two years, starting since her sophomore year. With the influence of golf from her family, Taylor found a love for it and wanted to continue that passion.
“My dad has always been a golfer so we would watch the Masters when I was younger. When my Freshman year came around I wanted a sport that I could do with a lot of my friends.” The experience of sharing the sport laid the foundation in Taylor’s life, building a lasting love for the sport. For Taylor, it is not just about competition, but about connection and the moments spent together out on the course. Taylor enjoys getting to play golf with friends and the opportunity to play on really fun courses.
The passion that Taylor has for the sport has been a motivator in her life to achieve high standards, even only being on the team for two years. “Last week was my first time breaking 90 at a regulation golf course,” stated Taylor.
The head coach for the Girls Palisade Varsity Golf Team, Jan Denton-Norell, is very impressed with the performance Taylor has shown. In a golf tournament at Cobble Creek on April the 7th, Taylor had an amazing performance, putting the team on the top.
“Lexi had a PR of 79, which put her in a tie for 4th place with two other golfers. She led the team to a 4th place finish out of 15 other teams.”
The growth that Taylor has shown throughout her golfing career has proven her hard work ethic and dedication to the sport. Her continual affection for friendships and connection within the sport makes her a true leader and a great friend. Congratulations, Lexi Taylor, for receiving Athlete of the Week!
