Senior Ascher Morby and his family at Senior Night.
Here at Palisade High School, we feel it is incredibly important to honor our Senior athletes, and celebrate all of their accomplishments over the last four years. Last Tuesday, February 18th, our Bulldog family honored our Boys’ Basketball athletes who have made it to their final year playing for Palisade.
On their home court, Palisade crushed the Coal Ridge Titans again, with a final score of 63-62. Our Palisade Boys Bulldogs have one three out of their last four games, giving them a record of 12-10.
There are six Seniors on the team this season, Christian Mullaney, John Ballenger, Julian Garza, Skylar Woods, Layne Ruppelius, and Ascher Morby.
Mullaney has been playing basketball for the Bulldogs all four years of his high school career. He had a successful game against the Titans, going 6-for-7 to rack up 12 points, giving him a new career high.
“I think it was good to be able to get all of our Seniors in, especially at the end, being able to rotate people out.” Mullaney states. “Coal Ridge is a good team so it was nice to be able to have some competition rather than the typical Senior Night where it’s not even a fun game to watch.”
The team has a great looking lineup for the following season, with Junior Hunter Howard dominating the court. Against the Titans, Howard led the game almost going double-double, with 26 points and nine assists. Sophomores Aidan Shaio, Carter Hayward, Jax Bavor, and Rye Gingerich making incredible strides on the Varsity court.
The boys will go on to the Playoffs this Friday, traveling down to Denver, Colorado. Make sure to cheer them on and hope for a fantastic ending to the Seniors’ last season. Go Bulldogs!
