Sophomore Carter Hayward shooting a free-throw on Tuesday's game against the Tigers.
Palisade boys basketball wiped out the tigers last Tuesday January 21st. They played at home against the Grand Junction Tigers in a very tight game. The final score was 56-53 after overtime. The Palisade Bulldogs now have four straight home wins. Junior Hunter Howard, who has been playing varsity for the boys basketball team since his freshman year said, “ I think it was a great team win. We were on the struggle bus coming out of break only having one win since then so I think kinda cracking the ice and getting a win is huge for us.” The Palisade boys basketball team is 7-7 so far this season with only 1 loss as the home team. Team chemistry is a very important thing in basketball and can help decide close games. “I think everyone is starting to understand their role a lot better and fulfilling them a lot better than we were. I think overall the team played pretty good. I think I played well, I reached my goal of scoring at least 17 points and we also got the win,” Howard stated. The Palisade Basketball team has 9 games left in their season with 7 of those games at home. Howard expressed: “I have very high hopes for the rest of the season especially with the new southwestern league and our next matchup, I think we can make some noise and upset some teams.” The Palisade boys basketball team’s next game is Friday January 24th at Fruita Monument high school. Make sure to go and support. Go Bulldogs!
