Over the weekend on December 7th the Palisade boy’s wrestling team participated in the Olathe tournament at Olathe High School. The wrestlers have been looking forward to this tournament and have done very well. Palisade student, Junior Waylon Cochrane has been wrestling for four years and has been making the best of it by making new friends and new memories. “We all encourage each other pretty well” states Cochrane, “My highlight of the tournament was probably going into overtime in my second match, and then I ended up pinning the kid I was going against.” Cochrane has been wrestling for Palisade all three years of his high school career leading up until now. The Palisade wrestling team is built on encouragement and lifting each other up. One of the many good qualities of their team is the family that has been made through wrestling. Sophomore, Cameron Kuhn states, “It’s a brotherhood up there. Everyone is always cheering each other on and pushing each other to be better.” Kuhn has had some challenges facing him but pushes through them to finish the match. “During the first period my MCL tore, but I got up and walked around a little bit and got in the right mindset to finish the match.” Palisade’s wrestling team is built with a hard work ethic, diligence, and willpower. The wrestlers still have a good season ahead of them, and the wrestlers will be facing each challenge head on. Palisade High School is excited to see all of the things that the wrestling team will do this season. Go Bulldogs!
