Trevin Brannon wrestling at Tournament of Champions
On Wednesday December 11,Boys wrestling had a Varsity and JV duel against Montrose. The Palisade boys wrestling won by a very sizable margin. The points system in wrestling is decided by multiple different factors including pins, techs, and decision with the most points coming from a pin. Everyone in the varsity lineup has a match. Junior Eli Jordan, who had a match against Montrose on Wednesday said: “ We won by quite a bit against Montrose. I also won my match to help secure the victory.” The varsity lineup for boys Wrestling changes quite a bit throughout their entire season. Eli Jordan exclaimed: “ Every Monday all the guys that want to be Varsity compete for their weight class. Whoever wins from each weight group is the Varsity guy for that week.” This leaves opportunities for everyone in wrestling to be Varsity at some point in the season. Boys Wrestling is not only competing against other schools, they also compete amongst themselves within their weight class. Weight class is one of the most important things in wrestling because it makes it more fair to wrestle someone who is equal weight to you. Eli Jordan also stated: “ I enjoy wrestling a lot. While it is very hard and challenging it is very rewarding as well.” Boys Wrestling has a tournament on Friday, December 13th against 13 different schools. This tournament is very big for them and is about as big and hard as State. Make sure to go and support the boys wrestling team! Go Bulldogs!
