Palisade Senior, Ema Babnic, is the female Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Babnic does cross country in the fall and weightlifting in her free time. Babnic has been running for five years. “I started trail running with my mom a bit and then I figured out about cross country in high school and I knew I wanted to do it.” Babnic has been running on the Varsity team since her Freshman year.
Over the years of running in high school, Babnic has grown within the sport and has achieved many tasks. “I recently got a personal record one minute and thirty seconds faster than my previous time,” said Babnic. This is one of her accomplishments in cross country. Being a student athlete is not easy and requires great commitment and dedication. Babnic is inspired by other runners to persevere and keep going, despite obstacles and struggles. “My biggest inspiration in running is Allie Ostrander. She is a NCAA past runner and now she is doing other crazy running things.”
As a Senior on the team who has experience of the sport, Babnic brings motivation and leadership to her peers. “I bring a positive attitude and I try to bring a fun spirit,” said Babnic. “Cross Country is a hard sport and it takes mental strength to get through some workouts, so having a positive outlook is very helpful.” Babnic’s ability to maintain a positive attitude has made her an inspiration to her peers. Her resilience and determination is what makes her the athlete she is today. Congratulations Ema Babnic for receiving Athlete of the Week!
