Male Athlete of the Week: Taylor Cowdrey

Palisade Senior, Taylor Cowdrey, is the male Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Cowdrey plays golf and has been for four years. “I think the season is going well,” said Cowdrey. “I have had good and bad rounds. I also like to see all the rookies having fun.” Cowdrey was first inspired to play golf by his dad and grandpa. Over the past years, Cowdrey has learned a lot about golf and is a huge role model to the team. “I bring experience, consistency, leadership, and knowledge of the game that I’ve learned from the seniors that taught me,” said Cowdrey. “I try to be positive and a good example for the rest of the team.” 

Other than golf, Cowdrey has other talents and hobbies. “I enjoy doing art (screen printing) and I work landscaping as a job. I also love to go rock climbing.” Like any other sport, golf comes with mental challenges, intense competition, and physical demands. Cowdrey’s motivation and perseverance is driven by those who inspire him. “Inside of golf my biggest inspiration is Rory McIlroy because even though he doesn’t go as far as other guys he still is one of the best and overall has a good attitude when he plays,” said Cowdrey. “Outside of golf my parents and grandpa are my biggest inspirations.” With years of experience and growth, Cowdrey has had many successes. “My greatest accomplishments would be my improvement and my amount of chip-ins.” Cowdrey has been showing great improvement and outstanding skill this season.
