This fall, our girls softball team is back and ready to dominate their competition. The girls season officially started August 8th with practice at our very own Palisade High School softball field. The girls practice hard at 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. five days a week. They are coached by Head Coach Shon Birch, Varsity coach Sean Kinslow, and Junior Varsity coaches Crystal Green and Hannah Sattler. The team has expanded a lot going from 19 players the previous season to 28 Bulldogs playing softball this season.
The girls played their first game on August 20th, against the Delta High Panthers. Typically, this team is good competition for our Bulldogs, but this year we were able to crush them 17-7. “We won by run ruling them,” says Junior Madison Gray. “My favorite part was when Kenize, who was pitching, strike out their best player. I was catching the game and watching Kenzie strike her out was great.” Gray is a full time Varsity player who has been playing softball for ten years, and all three years of her high school career for the Palisade Bulldogs. She is one of a set, with her twin sister Mackenzie Gray also playing on the team.
Like any sport, softball is a game that with good community and practice comes numerous wins. Our team of Bulldogs are like sisters to each other, creating good community and trust within one another. The girls have a long and fast season ahead of them, but we are sure they will continue to crush any and all competition that comes their way.
Make sure to pack the park for our girls this upcoming season and support their climb to the top. Good job so far, and Go Bulldogs!
