Palisade Sophomore, Madi DeGeorge, is the female Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. DeGeorge plays basketball in the winter and lacrosse in the spring. In her current sport, lacrosse, DeGeorge plays midfield. She has been around the sport since a young age, but didn’t actually get into it until her Freshman year of high school. “I have two older sisters who have played lacrosse for a long time,” said DeGeorge. “My oldest sister got All-State when she played in high school and got a lot of success. Growing up watching her I just kind of got into it. I didn’t really get into lacrosse since last year, so last year was technically my first year playing.” DeGeorge has come to truly love so much about the sport. “Everything about lacrosse I just love,” said DeGeorge. “When I play it I feel like the world around me goes quiet. It just calms me down and puts me at ease.”
Only having started playing competitively last year, DeGeorge didn’t let that stop her from growing in the sport. She is a starter on varsity and is one of the three team captains. “Statistics wise I am leading the league right now and I am 11th in the state for goals,” said DeGeorge. As one of the team captains, DeGeorge also contributes to the team as a leader. “One of my biggest roles is hyping up the team and just being a captain. My speed is probably one of the biggest thing skillswise that I contribute to the team.” The commitment and diligent work DeGeorge puts into her sport, as well as her teammates, proves her work ethic and the leader she is. Congratulations Madi DeGeorge on Athlete of the Week!
