Seniors after being recognized.
Last Thursday, February 15th, the boys basketball team hosted their senior night against Battle Mountain. The boys won 68-50 to end on a win in their regular season. This win allowed the boys to snatch a spot in the playoffs standing at the 31 seed. They will play Vista Peak away on Wednesday, February 21st. This was a huge win for the boys on this special night, as it was also their last regular season game. The boys have two seniors this year; Cyrus Lawrence and Fred Moore. Both of these boys have contributed to the boys basketball team tremendously throughout the years. They have dedicated their time to this sport, and have had a successful career. “It’s a good escape if you are going through something, it helps you focus on other things,” says Lawrence. Against Battle Mountain, Lawrence had 5 points and Moore had 17. Moore also had 9 rebounds, and Lawrence had 5. “I think I played pretty well, I definitely could have stepped up in certain areas, but overall pretty well,” says Lawrence. Both of these boys finished off their last regular season game strong on their senior night. Other players who contributed to this game were freshman Carter Hayward with 12 points, and sophomore Hunter Howard with 11 points. The boys on this team have grown together all season, and have formed a strong bond. “It was sad considering I’ve played with most of those guys since 8th grade, but it was fun and I’m glad it was with them, I wouldn’t trade any of them,” says Lawrence on behalf of senior night. All of the boys played hard for their seniors to extend their season at least one more game. The tradition of recognizing seniors is always a bittersweet night. Good luck against Vista Peak boys!
