Palisade Sophomore, Hunter Howard, is the Male Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Some players stand out for their exceptional skills, dedication, and leadership. This week, we shine the spotlight on Hunter Howard, a rising star in our basketball community, as our Athlete of the Week.
Hunter Howard, a 5’9″ Point guard, has been making waves in the basketball scene with his incredible talent and passion for the game. Hunter has been playing basketball since second grade. We asked him what got him started and he said “I used to watch it with my dad on TV and asked him to sign me up and went from there.” He is a natural leader, always motivating his teammates and pushing them to perform at their best. His work ethic and determination serve as an inspiration to his fellow players, and his positive attitude creates a supportive and cohesive team environment. The Basketball boys are currently 1-2 and we asked Hunter how it’s been going and he said, “ Going into the season we have high expectations for ourselves. The beginning was a little stump in the road but after the win on Saturday, it gave us a boost. After these two tournaments, I think we’re going to do some good things.” His dedication to his studies and community involvement further exemplify his character and make him a role model for other athletes. Hunter was asked who his inspirations were and said, “One that I would say for sports is Steph Curry. He is really honest whenever he is getting interviewed and the advice he gives is very good.” We asked him how he dealt with being a student-athlete and he said: “My parents have a big impact on me and we’re looking for a college in the academic and sports aspect, but I have a study hall period and whenever I have time in class I work on homework, so when I get home I do not have to worry about it once I’m done with practice.” We asked him what he did in his free time and responded “I do a lot of sports but I like to hang out with my friends and go fishing with them or hiking.”
With his exceptional skills, leadership qualities, and sportsmanship, it is no surprise that Hunter Howard is our Athlete of the Week. As Hunter continues to excel in his basketball career, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this talented athlete. Whether on the court or off, Hunter’s passion and dedication will undoubtedly lead him to even greater success. Congratulations, Hunter, on being named our Athlete of the Week!
